We have an exciting opportunity to join the ED Consultant Team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Applications are invited on a full or part time basis to undertake the role of Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will lead the Paediatric Emergency Medicine service. This role will also be the lead doctor for child protection within the department.
You will be responsible for ensuring robust PEM teaching and training for all doctors and nurses within the department as well as the co-ordination of paediatric resuscitation courses.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for ensuring all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making whilst ensuring quality and safety are delivered and sustained and undertake reception, resuscitation, diagnosis, and initial treatment of all emergencies as appropriate.
Working with the Nurse Coordinator you will ensure there is effective and timely communication between the clinical team, providing timely intervention and safe care to maintain optimal patient flow. You will liaise with other paediatric (medical, surgical, orthopaedic, critical care) departments in the hospital and associated hospitals in the Trust network.

* Ensuring robust PEM teaching and training for all doctors and nurses within the department
* Coordination of paediatric resuscitation courses
* Liaison with other paediatric (medical, surgical, orthopaedic, critical care) departments in the hospital and the associated hospitals in the network
* Lead doctor for child protection within the ED department

Professional Qualifications
Essential
* Primary medical qualification
* Full Registration with General Medical Council, FCEM, FRCA, FRCS, MRCP or equivalent.
* Entry on Specialist register or in receipt of CCT within 6 months of interview
* Significant post qualification experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
* Evidence of achievement of CT1/2/3 ACC Emergency Medicine competences or evidence of 36 months training in CT1/2/3 levels in all specialties that make up ACCS and CT3
* Emergency Medicine Training Programme
* PEM sub specialist qualification through RCEM or RCPCH
* ALS, EPALS/APLS, ATLS (ETC)
