We are looking for a Legal Secretary to join the Commercial/Residential Property team in our Bury St Edmunds office.
THE ROLE
Your duties will be varied but will include:
* Transcription and production of correspondence/documentation requested by the fee earners via digital dictation and Outlook, to include amending and formatting where necessary.
* To deal with all general conveyancing duties, to include the preparation of contract packs, ordering searches, preparing and submitting SDLT forms, and submitting applications to HMLR.
* To open/close files on instructions from the fee earners.
* To attend to clients both on the telephone and in person for the purpose of dealing with enquiries from existing and new clients and otherwise as instructed by the fee earner.
* To take and record accurately any messages and pass on the same to the appropriate person without delay.
* To assist with cover for other secretaries (within the firm generally) when they are on holiday or unwell.
* To make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain an up-to-date diary for your fee earners.
* To ensure the confidentiality of all client documentation and/or information.
* To undertake additional tasks as deemed reasonable to meet the needs of the team in the delivery of excellent client service.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
* Experience of working in an office environment, ideally within a property team at a law firm.
* The ability to work accurately, with good attention to detail.
* The ability to type at 60 WPM.
* Good administration and Microsoft Office skills.
* The ability to work as part of a team.
* Strong time management and organisational skills.
* The ability to work to deadlines.
* A good level of education, ideally to include GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* A professional and friendly demeanour.
* Experience with case management systems is desirable but not essential.

HOURS AND SALARY
The salary for this role is £31,720.00.
Working hours are 9am – 5.30pm Monday – Friday.
