One of the leading and fast growing design companies in the UK is looking for an experienced Operations Director. This role is responsible for Operations, Logistics and Merchandising, will report to our CEO, and be based at the head office in London.

About the Role
The Operations Director will be part of the leadership team and head up our operations, supply chain, Customer Service and Merchandise functions. This role will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day logistics globally, working closely with our product development team, sales functions and warehouse partners to drive operational excellence and continuously improve the customer experience. You'll be trusted, encouraged and motivated to create a long-term strategy that not only delivers improved operational excellence whilst driving efficiencies.
Leadership
* Lead the global team with a proactive ‘can-do’ mindset, constantly striving for operational excellence to significantly improve service levels
* Focus on building industry best practice and resilience in the team
* Work closely alongside global sales teams, customer and trade services, product development teams & the leadership team to strive for better customer outcomes
* Focus on compliance and sustainability in everything we do
* Be an active member of the Tom Dixon leadership team
Warehousing & stock management
* Provide leadership and guidance to the Import and Export Manager.
* Manage a planned warehouse over a 6-month period working with a small internal project team, external consultants and the third-party warehouse providers
* Once transitioned to the new warehouse, optimise the performance, spend and relationship with the 3PL
* Responsible for ensuring best practice eCommerce order fulfilment, SOP orders, returns policy and redeployment of exhibition stock
* Oversee the US and APAC operations team to improve inbound delivery times and maximise inventory flow
* Responsible for inventory integrity and alignment of Microsoft Navision (ERP) with the warehouse management system
* Oversee global annual stock take & inventory
Logistics
* Provide leadership and guidance to the Logistics Manager
* Responsible for the spend, relationships and performance of global inbound and outbound logistics providers
* Responsible for constantly benchmarking logistics providers for the most competitive rates and most favourable delivery times
* Responsible for proposing the best routing of inbound inventory from oversees factories and the EU direct to end customers where appropriate
* Responsible for all compliance with import/export regulations and customs and VAT regulations alongside health and safety requirements
Merchandising
* Provide leadership and guidance to the Head of Merchandising and team.
* Ensure intake flow into the business is managed to hit monthly forecasts, drive sales and minimize risks
* Oversee level of inventory in the business at location level and highlighting corrective action for slow moving and obsolete inventory
* Optimise merchandising processes and forecast excellence, working closely with the sales teams in forecasting, allowing the business to make timely decisions on stock needs
* Manage key stakeholder in relationships with manufacturers to ensure margin targets are constantly improved to for existing SKUs and new product launches
* Product performance focus across all categories
Customer Service
* Provide leadership and guidance to the Customer Service teams in EMEA, APAC and UK
* Continuously improve our customer service offering providing world-class support underpinned by our commercial and operations strategy
* Achieve operation excellence working closely with the sales teams to deliver annual targets
* Ensure world-class support is given to our direct customers as well as trading partners and agents.
About You
* You will be a proven and ambitious operations leader, with international supply chain, merchandising and customer service experience, with a strong track record of delivering results
* Proven track record in driving top line sales and profitability, consistently delivering financial performance above industry norms
* Experienced in managing diversified and complex product categories, selling through multiple sales channels
* Strong people leader able to engage and motivate diverse and high performing teams, to deliver exceptional result.
* An experienced negotiator driving excellence in supplier management
* Highly commercial and able to problem solve to identify the win-win outcomes for Tom Dixon and our customers
* You will have been a member of a previous leadership teams, able to articulate clear strategic thinking
* You will be highly cost conscious and efficiency driven, whilst ensuring customer excellence
* Ability to work closely with multiple stakeholders across the business
