Responsibilities
1. Clinical: Assess patient's suitability for CBT interventions in line with NICE guidance in a stepped care model. Provide consultations with Talking Therapies staff on suitability, feeding back to stakeholders on suitability issues to support the patient in accessing the right intervention. Complete onward referral to other services where appropriate.
2. Assess and manage risk collaboratively with the patient and adhere to the Talking Therapies risk protocol, ensuring safety for the patient and others.
3. Formulate, implement, and evaluate therapy programmes for patients. Complete all mandated session-by-session outcome measures.
4. Work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds; use interpreters when necessary.
5. Demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities and cultural competence.
6. Use highly developed communication skills to understand patients' sensitive difficulties.
7. Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients in line with service and the National Talking Therapies manual.
8. Educate and involve family members in treatment, conveying CBT and psychological formulations sensitively.
9. Adhere to an agreed job plan relating to patient contacts and clinical sessions to minimize waiting times.
10. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols and complete all data collection requirements.
11. Work closely with other team members to maintain a stepped care approach.
12. Assess and integrate work and employment issues into the therapy process.
13. Liaise with other health and social care staff as appropriate.
14. Demonstrate clinical leadership where required.
Training and Supervision
1. Contribute to the development, teaching, and training of other mental health professionals.
2. Attend clinical supervision regularly as agreed with the manager.
3. Undertake Clinical Supervisors training and provide supervision to other Cognitive Behavioural Therapists.
4. Ensure all mandatory training and CPD is up to date.

6. Stay updated on advances in CBT and other psychological therapies.
Advisory / Liaison
1. Provide advisory services on CBT practice and delivery.
2. Promote positive relationships with Primary and Secondary Care Staff.

1. Contribute to the development of best practices within the service.
2. Maintain knowledge of legislation and policies related to Mental Health and Primary Care Services.
3. Ensure health and safety for self and others.
4. Keep patient and staff information accurate and confidential.
5. Be comfortable using computer technology and conduct videoconferencing as a treatment option.
