Programme Assistant - Bowel Cancer Programme and Endoscopy Training
**Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity until 31/03/2025***
The post holder will join the small and friendly Bowel Cancer Screening team working in a bright open plan office at the Quadram Institute, within the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital site. They will work closely with the Specialist Screening Practitioners and Programme Managers, as well as the wider Endoscopy team.
The Bowel Cancer Screening Programme supports patients who have received an abnormal screening test result through the NHS national population screening programme. The patients are invited for a pre-assessment appointment with a specialist nurse and then, if suitable, go on to have a colonoscopy with an accredited bowel screening endoscopist.
Main duties of the job
You will be involved at every step of the pathway from referral to potential cancer diagnosis.
You will act as the first point of contact for patients, clinical staff, and the regional screening hub.
You will need a good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel as they will be required to produce and analyse data for reports and audits.
You may also be required to help support the provision of Endoscopy Training courses in liaison with the East of England Endoscopy Academy.
Job responsibilities
1. Accountable for providing an administrative service to the BCSP Management Team to support the effective delivery of the Programme.
2. Co-ordinate pre-assessment clinics for the Specialist Screening Practitioners. Arrange for notes to be called or collected as necessary.
3. Print communication production from the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme system on a daily basis.
4. Act as first point of contact with Regional Hub with the recording of results and arrangement of nurse-led clinic appointments.
5. Arrange colonoscopy appointments at the identified screening centre.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 3 in Administration or equivalent.
* Keyboard skills to RSA III or equivalent.
* Ability and willingness to undergo further training as necessary.
Experience
* Significant experience of Waiting Lists and booking appointments along with knowledge of NHS targets.
* Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and GroupWise Email.
Skills
* Ability to use initiative, make decisions and practice effective time management.

£24,071 to £25,674 a year, pro rata.
