We have invested more than £3 billion into high-quality affordable housing. Our entrepreneurial spirit combined with our technical expertise has got us to where we are today and will enable future sustainable growth.
About the role:
As a Revenue Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in our finance team, ensuring the integrity of our revenue reporting and compliance with financial standards. You'll be responsible for managing high-volume transactions, performing key balance sheet reconciliations and supporting the financial reporting process. This role is ideal for someone who is part-qualified CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent, with ambitions to fully qualify - study support will be provided to help you achieve this goal.
The Revenue Accountant will support the Senior Revenue Accountant & Financial Controller and is a crucial link between Sage's Finance function, housing management, and the Income Recovery team. If you have a solid accounting background gained within a high volume transactional business and are looking to join a fast paced dynamic business, this is a great step for you.
You will be based in our Northampton Office 3 days per week and if required 2 days from home.
Key Duties:
1. Act as the main contact for rental housing managers, ensuring accurate transaction reconciliation.
2. Develop and enhance accounting processes within the revenue accounting team.
3. Manage weekly debit runs, cash postings, and rent journal entries.
4. Assist in posting annual service charge actuals and updating the rent ledger.
5. Oversee P&L lines related to rent and service charge income, including accruals and prepayments.
6. Provide rent receipts data for quarterly lender reports.
About you
1. Part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent).
2. Solid experience in financial accounting, with a focus on revenue and reconciliations.
3. Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of transactions while maintaining accuracy.
4. Previous experience of maintaining the rent ledger within a large portfolio would be an advantage but not essential.
5. Strong understanding of accounting principles and revenue recognition standards.
6. Proficiency in financial systems and Excel skills (lookups, sumifs, pivot tables).
7. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
8. Effective verbal & written communication and organisational skills.
We are committed to ensuring you have the best career here at Sage. As well as regular support and guidance from your manager you can expect to receive a variety of learning and development opportunities to support you as you grow within our business. This includes internally and externally delivered development programmes and opportunities to study for professional accreditations and qualifications.
