A vacancy has arisen for a Principal Teacher at Mid Calder Primary School and ELC. We would like to invite applications from excellent practitioners who are interested in a Principal Teacher role. This is an excellent opportunity for successful candidates.
The Principal Teacher will work with the Head Teacher to develop, implement, monitor, and review effective learning and teaching policies and procedures within the school to enable the school to deliver the highest quality experiences for all children. They will ensure, by being a model of good practice and through the continuous implementation of quality assurance procedures, that high standards of attainment and achievement are met.
Successful applicants will meet the following criteria:
* Be suitably qualified and possess a wide interest in all aspects of education.
* Have relevant PT experience with a record of achieving the very highest standards.
* Have a sound knowledge of current national/local curricular developments and learning and teaching theory and practice.
* Be able to evidence a successful capacity for self-evaluation.
* Have the ability to work with a wide range of professionals and agencies in supporting pupils with additional support needs within mainstream placements.
* Work in direct line management with the Head Teacher and will be supported and challenged by the Head Teacher to develop middle leadership capacity.
* Work in a collegiate manner with colleagues.
Specific line management includes:
* Early level line management including ELC.
* Lead early/first level improvement and pedagogy.
* Raising attainment of all.
Other areas of remit will be agreed based upon skills/experience.
Mid Calder Primary is a non-denominational primary school serving the village of Mid Calder and the surrounding community. At present, the school roll is 189 pupils, as well as a 30:30 nursery provision. The staff consists of the Head Teacher, Principal Teacher, and fourteen teaching staff covering 9 classes.
A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment, and the cost will be met by the candidate.
