Senior Business Support Officer - LASC Operations (London Asylum Seekers Consortium)

Overview of the Role:
Westminster City Council is seeking a proactive and skilled Business Support Officer to join the LASC Operations team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Business Support Team, ensuring the efficient coordination and management of various administrative and operational tasks. This position involves handling a range of data management duties, HR support, finance responsibilities, and temporary accommodation oversight, all within the legal framework guiding children's services.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support the Business Support Team, providing service-level cover as needed.
Coordinate and minute meetings, panels, multi-agency conferences, and training sessions, including managing room bookings and attendance lists.
Maintain and manage departmental databases, spreadsheets, and other records.
Respond to queries and support the LASC Manager and Service Managers on politically sensitive issues.
Handle data entry, validate data accuracy, and support departmental PI (Performance Indicators) understanding.
Assist with HR support tasks and key LASC business deliverables.
Respond professionally to enquiries via email and phone.
Finance Duties:
Manage financial responsibilities, including raising purchase orders, LASC subscription invoices, and tracking payments.
Reconcile emergency accommodation and transportation data, raise related invoices, and assist in closing year-end accounts.
Support budget monitoring and assist in identifying funding streams.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Working knowledge of the legal and policy framework for children's services.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage staff and service users.
Proven flexibility and ability to work independently with minimal support.
Strong organisational and workload management skills.
Effective negotiation skills and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
Intermediate IT skills and familiarity with local authority, social services, and child care processes.
