Job Title: Facilities and Building Services Technician
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Flexibility required for additional hours, including weekends and bank holidays, to support and cover colleague absences.
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum.
Role Overview:
As part of the Engineering team, you will support Shift Engineers and report directly to the Site Engineering Manager or the Operations Manager in their absence. The role focuses on maintaining property conditions and infrastructure to ensure a safe working environment for all on-site stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities:
* Provide infrastructure, facilities, and building maintenance.
* Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to and continually improved across the site.
* Maintain site standards to meet audit requirements.
* Identify and implement process improvements to optimize site operations.
* Conduct equipment and plant condition assessments.
* Diagnose simple faults and carry out repairs for domestic water, sanitation systems, and basic single- and three-phase electrical installations.
* Observe, report, and rectify substandard conditions of building finishes, fixtures, and fittings.
* Perform basic plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry tasks.
* Record data on the CMMS system, including remedial work and parts booking.
* Support hygiene team by removing, replacing, and installing guards to aid cleaning.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance, including:
* Greasing bearings
* Checking machinery integrity
* Taking meter readings
* Conducting daily maintenance checks
* Cleaning and changing filters
* Monitoring cooling systems and water usage
* Conducting plant room checks
* Performing contractor control tasks
* Conducting root cause analysis with site teams
* Report health and safety concerns or machinery issues to the Site Engineering Manager.
* Maintain 5S standards and operate a clean-as-you-go policy.
* Ensure all compulsory PPE is worn in designated areas.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Skilled in building maintenance.
* Experience in maintaining equipment within a services/utilities environment.
* Familiarity with CMMS systems.
* IEE Wiring Regulations qualification.
Competencies:
* Strong health and safety awareness.
* Excellent hands-on maintenance skills.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
