Job summary
To support registered and unregistered staff in the direct and indirect care of patients and other ED related duties, including participation in the Rapid Assessments of patients brought into ED.
Monitor ED attendance via First Net and liaise with ED staff, bed management team and wards to assist department in meeting local and national targets. Liaise with all members of the MDT to facilitate patient flow through ED and the Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU).
Main duties of the job
Assist in the delivery of a high standard of patient care, observing and reporting specific changes and documenting care given. Assist senior staff with coordinating department flow, liaising with bed management team, updating FirstNet/e-Care, assisting with patient transfers and other duties as required.
The successful candidate must hold a Certificate in blood taking and cannulation.

STAFF CAR PARKING
Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 18:30.
For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.
This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete on call duties within their role.

Education and qualifications
Essential
* Good general education including Maths and English grade C or above or equivalent.
* Certificate in blood taking and cannulation.
* NVQ 3 in Health-related subject or working towards.
Experience and knowledge
Essential
* Competent in cannulation /venepuncture
* Understanding of team working
* Recent relevant experience of working in the acute healthcare environment
* Experience of working/communicating with the general public
* Ability to communicate with a range of different people, including service users, carers and members of the multi-disciplinary team
