Job summary
This role is responsible for leading a team of CCTV Operators and Access Control Team, ensuring that they are adequately trained to provide a safe and secure environment for Trust staff, patients, and visitors in line with legislation, particularly in emergency situations. This includes communication with emergency services.
The post holder will assist the Security Assistant Manager in managing the CCTV and Access Control system on all NUH sites.
In the absence of the Security Shift Team Leader, the role may require assistance in delivering a uniformed specialist service and leading a team across various departmental functions. This includes ensuring that guidance is provided to patients, visitors, and staff while maintaining a safe and secure environment in accordance with legal requirements, particularly during emergencies.
A critical aspect of this position involves managing situations with challenging patients, visitors, and staff, especially in scenarios such as smoking violations, abusive behavior, and car parking incidents. The Trust has established policies for the prevention and management of violent conduct, and this role will support the implementation of these techniques.
Main duties of the job
1. Manage the review of CCTV footage requests from external organizations such as the police and complete redaction requests.
2. Manage and approve access control requests and collate monthly reports for the Security Management Team.
3. Manage the duties and conduct of CCTV Operators during their shift, including recording time and attendance in the absence of shift team leaders.
4. Coordinate with the Assistant Security Manager regarding team requirements during office hours.
5. Make rota adjustments and request relief staff outside of office hours as needed due to unforeseen operational demands or staff absences.
6. Ensure that Security Officers are assigned duties for which they are trained and licensed, maintaining professionalism in alignment with the Trust's values.
