We have an excellent opportunity for a Head of Source to Pay to lead the Source to Pay Team. This is a permanent role, based in Edinburgh.
About the Department
Finance Operations plays a critical role in servicing our clients and providing key financial information externally and internally. We are responsible for developing the operating model including vision and strategy, governance, service delivery framework and standard global processes. Within this, the Source to Pay function supports the wider business in the procuring of goods and /or services, manging suppliers and partners to enable the organisation’s day to day operations and prompt payment of suppliers. Using effective business partnering we support the delivery of commercial value whilst achieving improved service and effective risk management within the supply chain.
Occupying a senior and strategic position within the Finance Operations leadership team, you will be leading the Procurement and Payables teams for abrdn. Reporting directly to the Finance Operations Director, and supported by your direct reports - Head of Procurement Compliance & Governance, Head of Strategic Sourcing and Head of Purchase to Pay, you will be responsible for the end to end strategic Source to Pay approach in line with abrdn business objectives.
About the Role
1. Lead and develop the Source to Pay team. Development of team at a strategic level ensuring all team members are competent and maintain the correct skills expected. Day to day management of direct reports including management of all HR required activity.
2. Develop, implement and lead strategic and tactical sourcing strategy across all categories and business divisions that drives the global Source to Pay vision.
3. Global Process Owner across abrdn’s source to pay activities, standards, tools and procedures.
4. Provide thought leadership and guidance across all Source to Pay teams ensuring collaboration at all levels to deliver the widest range of benefits and opportunities.
5. Lead and drive engagement with key senior business leaders ensuring the source to pay strategy supports and addresses their key department objectives and challenges and ensuring that the global S2P agenda is a key part of their department strategy
6. Responsible for sign-off of all benefits and oversight of budget reductions
7. Ensure representation at strategic Senior Stakeholder Forums
8. Foster collaborative relationships and effective networks across all business areas
9. Partner closely with the Team leads to build and implement effective communication plans.
10. Lead, develop and implement innovative source to pay solutions to address business requirements and challenges whilst maximising value and ensuring delivery of breakthrough results.
11. Work closely with the Finance Operations Leadership Team to support cost challenge and demand management initiatives
12. Ensure full compliance with all Source to Pay policies across all business areas
13. Ensure the continuous improvement of the Global Source to Pay Function.
Skills and Experience
14. MBA or other advanced degree or equivalent experience
15. Proven experience of strategic results' delivery under pressure
16. Extensive experience of successfully leading a team within a strategic source to pay function and demonstrating strong management and organisational skills
17. Ability to optimise an end to end S2P solution, and develop individual members within the team
18. Experience of operating successfully at a senior management level preferable within a complex, pan-global business
19. High level of ‘ownership’ with an ability to think creatively, innovate, constructively challenge the status quo and see the wider picture developing innovative solutions to business problems weighing up cost versus risk
20. Excellent engagement skills, managing relationships at a senior and C suite level with the ability to influence effectively to drive collaboration and results
21. Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and challenge at all levels. Highly motivated, confident, credible and trustworthy with a strong sense of integrity
22. Experience working with, and managing, a third party outsource provider
23. Knowledge of SOX and fundamental accounting principles
24. Analytical mentality and ability to proactively problem solve
25. Proficient and broad technology skills across ERP infrastructure and source to pay tools
