Senior People Business Partner - 12 month FTC
As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain. It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris. This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.
So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make. We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.
The role:
Senior People Business Partner
Working closely with one of our Management Committee (C-suite), the Senior People Business Partner leads a team to provide support, guidance and counsel to our senior leaders to enhance organisational performance, deliver the area people strategy and develop the people solutions to achieve business objectives.
What you’ll do:
* Partners with BA MC members to develop and deliver People Plans in the context of the people strategy and business objectives. Delivering quality results, on time and to budget.
* Build a high performing team of HR Business Partners; focused on both ‘what’ is delivered, and ‘how’ this is done, providing a blend of challenge and support to optimise performance of individuals and the team.
* Constantly review business and people performance, challenging the status quo using data driven insight, adding a constructive tension into the organisation that ensures the three priorities of customer, shareholder and colleague are optimally balanced.
* Ensures our organisational design is optimised and spot opportunities to transform the way we work, driving a step change in performance by growing our efficiency and effectiveness.
* Collaborate with members of the People Partnering Leadership team, HR Operations, and centres of expertise to ensure a seamless service is provided by the People directorate.
* Act as a conscience of the organisation – holding a mirror up to the business at all levels to ensure we live our values and colleague centricity.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
* Insights driven - adopt a principled approach to understanding and diagnosing problems, and then use a range of evidence from a variety of sources to develop people insights. Use this insight to challenge thinking around people in our organisation and advise change, driving better business decision making. Evaluate the impact of all projects in order to advise future practice.
* Digital Working - understanding the digital environment, the role of technology and the impact it has on people and the people function.
* Professional courage and influence – show professional and personal courage to speak up when it’s the right thing to do, even if in the face of resistance or opposition. Expertly influence others in a range of situations, including making a case for change, taking ownership for mistakes, and challenging the behaviours of others.
* Commercial Drive - apply a business and customer focused approach. Demonstrate the dedication and resilience to deliver results that build business value. Deliver the people plan with an emphasis on those areas that will have the greatest impact.
* Situational Decision Making - effective and pragmatic decisions that take into account the specific situation or context. Avoids a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach but in doing so, still ensures alignment to the principles and values outlined in the people and business strategies. Remain flexible enough to adapt to new insight, circumstances or changes.
Your experience:
* Experience of working across all areas of HR, an HR centre of excellence, or people leadership role (essential)
* Experience of working in a complex and matrixed business (preferred)
* IR experience (preferred but not essential)
* CIPD accreditation (preferred but not essential)
