An exciting opportunity as the Clinical Director for Pathology Services has arisen within CTM University Health Board. This colleague will be part of our senior leadership team and will help transform and shape our Pathology services through a stimulating period of transition. We are working as part of a regional collaborative with neighbouring health boards to develop a sustainable regional model of care for our populations. We want to provide the best possible health and care system and make CTM UHB the best place to work in NHS Wales. We are looking for a dynamic and high-calibre clinical leader with exceptional leadership skills who can demonstrate a collaborative and inclusive approach. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering sustained improvements for their population and workforce. This role requires a leader who can navigate complex environments and drive impactful change with a supportive clinical and managerial supporting team. They must excel at building relationships across different professions and health and care systems and have the ability to challenge and guide senior leadership teams effectively. We know inclusive, supportive and empowering cultures deliver safe patient care and a key aim for this postholder will be to develop a one-team approach from partners and stakeholders across the Health Board and regional Pathology teams to deliver the required transformation.

It is an exciting time to join us as we work on regional models of care and continue to develop Community Diagnostic Hubs within the region.
The successful applicant will be a senior doctor, though not necessarily within the pathology disciplines. You will be supported to lead the clinical teams within Haematology, Microbiology and Cellular Pathology, whilst also giving medical support to the Clinical Biochemistry service.
The role typically involves 2 sessions, but a further 2 clinical sessions can be provided if required, particularly within the Pathology Directorate.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Knowledge
* Registered with GMC or other relevant Professional Body and with a licence to practice.
* Evidence of further personal development - education and/or training in leadership and/or management.
* Health service management / leadership qualification.
* Membership of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (FMLM).
Experience
* Significant track record of employment at a senior level in a health environment.
* Well established medical/clinical practitioners with considerable medical/clinical experience since full registration with appropriate professional body.
* Evidence of leading service change with professional colleagues.
* Leadership and management experience.
Personal Skills
* Team Working: ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual and multi-disciplinary basis with all levels of staff; take time to listen, understand and involve people; receptive to appropriate change.
* Effective communication skills: ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, clinical staff and other agencies. Communicate openly and honestly and explain things clearly.
* Empathy and sensitivity: ability to listen, understand and involve people; see people as individuals and do the right thing for every person.
* Leadership: ability to take responsibility and demonstrate leadership when appropriate. An understanding of and ability to demonstrate your ability to empower others, lead through change, influence strategically, demonstrate patience and empathy, value everybody's contribution, and demonstrate innovation and highly complex problem solving abilities.
* Ability to speak Welsh.
