We are looking for an automotive ME Capability Lead to work with Engineering Projects and Programme Managers around all our sites in the UK. You will be responsible for the engineering planning and execution activities within multiple high-value, high-risk, and technically complex programmes.
The engineer is required to work a 5-day working week, with hybrid working options available on-site, in Expleo offices, or from home.
Responsibilities
* Delivery of current and future projects with our teams on customer sites and within Expleo offices throughout the UK.
* Leading the creation of the engineering planning and directing the planning definition at lower levels.
* Reporting progress to business stakeholders both internal and external.
* Supporting and/or leading meetings with customers and performance reviews, including preparation of documentation.
* Working with the business unit to define the budget to support the development of the team.
* Creating the work scope and timescales and driving the team accordingly.
* Setting a delivery-focused culture through strong work package management and leadership.
* Directing, motivating, and providing leadership for the project technical leads and the broader engineering team.
* Identifying, specifying, and managing demand for routine and specialist engineering resources.
* Maintaining effective working relationships with customer teams to ensure that requirements for expertise and support are met.
* Integrating the outputs from the projects to turn capabilities into required outcomes for stakeholders.
* Identifying potential problems/issues and working to resolve them, escalating as appropriate.
* Ensuring effective lessons learned approaches are utilized to capture information and update processes continuously.
Qualifications
* A recognized technology-based degree or equivalent, supported by sufficient experience to prove application of manufacturing engineering across the life-cycle, ideally in the automotive field.
* A proven track record in leading technical activity in complex projects.
* Able to technically mentor and instruct engineers assigned to support you in the execution of the project.
* Experience in Project Management toolsets, such as Microsoft Project.
* Good understanding of Risk Management.
* Experience in technical report writing.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in an engineering or engineering-related discipline/domain.

* Specialist skills can include CMM, PLC, PLM, NPI, Process creation, GD&T, PDCA, FMEA, Six Sigma, 5 Why, Lean, PPS, 8D, TPS, FPS, etc.
Experience
* Preferred experience would be in an automotive OEM or Tier 1 to an automotive OEM.
* Experience of pilot or NPI projects would be an advantage.
* Understanding and application of plant and line layouts as well as process tools.
* Management of engineering teams to senior stakeholder level.
* Ability to guide less senior engineers through their career pathways.
* Must show the ability to work with teams that include program managers and business development individuals while maintaining a strong work ethic to ensure current and future engineering teams can deliver within timescale and budget.
