As our Hardware Technical Specialist, you will support the Hardware Team Lead in managing the team in delivery of world-class electrical and electronic designs through the full design lifecycle from initial concept into volume production.
Specifically, your role will be to assume responsibility from the Hardware Team Lead for the technical leadership and oversight for the electronics team, directing and guiding our engineers to create high performance, high reliability, and cost-competitive designs which are optimised for high volume manufacture.
Responsibilities:
* Provide technical expertise into systems engineering led activities to help define the system architecture solutions for our next generation products.
* Become one of our recognised experts in the standards applicable to the development of DC Fast Charger products.
* Be the technical authority within the HW team, the recognised owner for the design review process, and responsible for personally reviewing and signing off designs, operating the design release process, and directing the hardware team in the design and verification of circuit blocks.
* Define and drive the hardware design analysis activities, such as failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), reliability prediction, and safe failure fraction.
* Provide leadership and direction for investigation and resolution of all test failures where ownership is assigned to the hardware team, defining the technical content of the design and supporting the HW Team Lead to develop the supporting DVP schedule.
* Lead the HW team in driving the development of the design to achieve the cost targets, and support the team in working with our manufacturing partner on the Design For Manufacture (DFM) and Design For Test (DFT) analysis, ensuring that our designs are optimised for high volume manufacture.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified to at least Degree level in Electronics Engineering.
* The successful applicant will need to demonstrate considerable depth of knowledge in Electrical and Electronic engineering, having provided technical leadership and/or acted as design authority through the whole product lifecycle of at least one complex power electronics-based product, from concept to volume production.
* Significant knowledge and expertise in the design and development of high efficiency, high power (>10kW) inverters (motor drives) or converters (DC/DC) for high volume production, with sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge and experience to guide and support our engineers and effectively review and critique designs produced.
* Experience in design and development of digital boards incorporating the latest generation multi-core microprocessors.
* Excellent working knowledge in the principles of design for EMC and strong expertise in circuit design, analysis, and simulation for schematic capture and PCB layout.
* Strong expertise in all aspects of testing, from printed circuit board assembly level to system and product level.
* Highly competent in structured problem-solving techniques, able to coach and mentor less experienced team members to analyse and solve difficult problems.
