Breast Pain Clinic Coordinator

Job overview
To take an active part in patient pathway co-ordination for the Breast Unit’s new Breast Pain Clinic ensuring waiting lists are managed in accordance with the Trust’s Patient Access policies and procedures.
The post holder will have responsibility for the delivery of highly efficient and effective clerical support and will be the link into the patient appointments office and the Breast Pain clinical team.
Responsibilities include:
* Provide up to date, complete and accurate data.
* Ensure local and national guidelines and performance targets are adhered to.
* Maintain comprehensive and accurate waiting lists.
* Chaperone patients in clinic while Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) carries out physical examination and patient assessment.
* Engage with Primary Care Referrers to improve their knowledge of the Breast Pain Clinic and compliance with CMCA referral guidelines.
Main duties of the job
* Work with the current booking team to ensure correct patients are allocated to the breast pain clinic.
* Liaise with the ANP and operational teams to ensure clinics are cancelled in compliance with the patient access policy.
* Notify patients of appointment dates and any cancellations and reschedule as necessary.
* Monitor waiting lists to ensure compliance with local and national policies and procedures.
* Ensure liaison between the patient access office and the Breast Pain Clinic regarding patient pathway management.
* Ensure Breast Pain clinics are utilized effectively.
* Monitor the completion of clinic outcomes & patient follow-up surveys.
Person specification
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
* NVQ level 3/4 qualification in Health or Social Care or equivalent experience.
* Excellent computer/keyboard skills, ECDL or equivalent, proficient in MS Office.
* 5 GCSE qualifications with C or above including Maths and English.
* Counselling qualification.
* Basic Cancer Course.
* Experience coordinating a patient workload.
* Additional training to Foundation degree/diploma level or equivalent through short courses.

* Minimum 3 years’ experience of working in a health or social care setting.
* Minimum 2 years’ experience of working with cancer patients.
* Awareness of the individual needs of people affected by cancer.
* Experience of responding to the support and information needs of others.
* Previous experience as Senior Support worker.
* Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and its role across the UK.
* Knowledge of relevant cancer treatments, interventions, and terminology.
* Experience of working without supervision using own initiative.

* Ability to work across sites.
