Interim Forensic Social Worker

Pay Rate: £20.85 per hour PAYE
Hours: 37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours
Assignment Duration: This opening assignment is for 1-2 months

Work Arrangement: Hybrid
You will contribute to the planning and provision of an effective forensic mental health service across the Yorkshire region. Provide a high quality, specialist, forensic social work service to service users and carers. Work within a multi-agency context to ensure that appropriate social work resources are available to all forensic mental health service users.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Undertake comprehensive needs assessments.
2. Plan, implement and review care plans within the framework of the Care Programme Approach.
3. Provide social work interventions to individual service users and carers as identified within the care plan.
4. Contribute to the effective assessment and management of risk and protection of others. To liaise with the Probation Service and make referrals to the relevant MAPPA when appropriate.
5. Undertake care coordination and social supervision of service users living in the Wakefield locality.
6. Contribute to the provision of specialist multidisciplinary treatment programmes.
7. Work with local and regional mental health services to meet service users needs and facilitate effective transfer of care and discharge.
Key Requirements:
1. DipSW or equivalent recognised by CCETSW.
2. PQ1 (or a willingness to undertake within 12 months)
3. GSCC Registration.
4. Comprehensive understanding of types of mental disorder and effects of mental health problems on individuals and their carers.
5. Understanding of the issues affecting the lives of people who have a learning disability.
6. Aware of responsibilities under the Care Act 2014 in relation to the principles of the Act, prevention, having strengths based conversations in order to determine eligibility and support planning with service users, families and advocates.
7. Aware of the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 with experience of undertaking Capacity and Best Interest Assessments.
8. 2 years post qualifying experience.
9. Experience of working with people who have a learning disability.
10. Experience of Continuing Healthcare including undertaking checklists and attending DST meetings.
11. Experience of working within a fast paced environment.
12. Good risk assessment skills.
13. An ability to work within a service where Psycho Social Interventions are a key driver in care delivery.
14. A proven ability to manage a caseload effectively.
