What you need to know about the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced HR professional to join our dedicated team in a newly established Employee Relations role.
This position will offer great development in a busy, challenging and fast-moving organisation, that sits firmly at the heart of our the local community.
As our standalone Employee Relations Advisor - the successful candidate will work alongside the HR Operations team to advise and offer hands-on support in live casework.
Such cases will include investigations, disciplinary proceedings, grievances, absence management and performance improvement processes, capability, redundancy and TUPE.
On occasion - the successful candidate will advise and support people managers directly and they will assume responsibility for cases themselves as required.
In addition to the primary employee relations focus - where opportunity allows - this role will provide support to the HR function with general HR activity, which includes but is not limited to, cover of critical case-work during HR Advisor holidays and leading in and contributing to project work.
This will be a varied and interesting role, suited to a HR professional with a strong desire to make a positive impact on the organisation and to share, influence and develop in their professional capacity.
It will involve a broad range of HR activity and will be a prominent contribution as part of our people function.
Qualifications and Experience:
It is essential that the successful candidate:
Holds CIPD qualification at Level 5 or has equivalent, relevant experience
* Has a solid working knowledge of current employment legislation and forthcoming developments in this area
* Is experienced in effectively managing or supporting the effective management of conflict, for a successful resolution
* Has been involved in complex people cases that have resulted in the more challenging outcomes of dismissal and Settlement Agreements
* Has proven experience over a number of years in a generalist or Employee Relations focused HR role, working independently in managing their own cases and workload, in a similar type of business
* Is demonstrably successful in influencing individuals for a successful outcome
* Has worked in partnership with trade union and/or employee representatives, on behalf of a workforce
* Has worked with people at differing levels within an organisation, including senior managers
* Is experienced in contributing to the success and ongoing development of a HR team

* Has the ability to handle confidential issues and upset people, with sensitivity, tact and discretion
* Can research, analyse, summarise and interpret data
* Is competent in using Microsoft Office for the benefit of their role
