Primary Design Engineer (Solar and BESS)
Location: North England (Multiple locations)
Responsibilities:
As a key member of our Civil and Electrical Design team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality designs for complex energy infrastructure projects. Specifically, you will:
* Develop electrical layouts for substations, including AIS/GIS systems up to 400kV.
* Create cable route layout drawings and sectional details.
* Design LV layouts, switchroom and control room equipment layouts.
* Produce site earthing layouts and associated designs.
Educational Background: A degree, HND, or HNC in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power Systems Electrical preferred.
Industry Experience: Previous hands-on experience in primary electrical design within a consultancy, contractor, or utility setting in the power industry.
Technical Expertise: Proficient in the design of HV AC power systems with a proven ability to produce electrical layout drawings for substations, switch rooms, control rooms, and balance of plant projects. These projects may involve privately owned facilities or those partially adopted under G81 standards by the host DNO.
Key Design Areas:
* 11kV distribution networks
* 22kV distribution networks
* 33kV switchrooms and control rooms
* 66kV AIS substations
* 132kV AIS substations
Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with HV and EHV substation installation standards and specifications used across the industry.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to take initiative and adopt a proactive approach to tasks and problem resolution.
Cable Installation Knowledge: Understanding of various cable installation types, including their specific requirements and parameters such as flexible or rigid arrangements
