Purpose of the Role- As part of the Engineering team within the Asset Care department, you will work safely and collaboratively to support and enhance operational performance. This is an individual contributor position reporting to one of the Technical Managers' at Shieldhall. You will provide maintenance and continuous improvement expertise to drive progress across safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and asset care. A key aspect of the role involves the effective use of maintenance systems data and ensuring full compliance with safe systems of work. You will play a critical role in shaping and delivering the asset care strategy, supporting the completion of preventative maintenance activities, and continuously improving performance targets. Additionally, you will manage the safe execution of projects and improvements through adherence to Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), Permit to Work (PTW) processes, and the coordination of external contractors when required. Top Accountabilities: - At all times adhere to Diageo health and safety, environmental and food safety standards, and work to all applicable legislative procedures. Responsible for Safe Systems of work. - Maintain a safe and organised workplace environment through adherence to the Safety and 5S manufacturing excellence practices. Understands and uses MMS principles tools and techniques, contributing positively to manufacturing excellence Implementation Task Force (ITFs). - Accountable to ensure all assigned Electrical Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules are carried out at the defined frequency and completed to the required standard. - Coach craft and operators to perform autonomous maintenance and technical tasks, machine set ups optimisation and support growth in equipment capability as required. - Manage PUWER and Safe Isolations, Functional Safety and Electrical Compliance. - Support capital work, including installation, commissioning and testing within area as required. Responsible for feeding into early equipment management. - Make full use of SAP - SAP reporting & recording completion. - Review Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) activity to preserve good operation of our plant, machines and processes. - Take a proactive role in situational problem-solving during shifts by collaborating with Operators and Team Leaders. Initiate "5 Whys" analysis based on agreed trigger points and apply Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) techniques to identify and implement effective solutions. Support production teams in developing their asset care and RCPS capabilities to drive long-term improvements. - Actively participate in line improvement projects as skills and experience allow, engage in start-of-shift and performance-based team meetings to address recurring performance issues, and contribute to weekly asset care review meetings with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. We'd love to hear from you if you: - Have completed a recognised apprenticeship AND/OR hold a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification. - Have solid experience as a Maintenance lead within the FMCG/Manufacturing or similar environment. - Can connect the asset care strategy and your own tasks to improving site output and compliance. - Possess strong numerical and verbal reasoning skills and are computer literate. - Have a solid understanding of asset performance and maintenance philosophy, with excellent process improvement and root cause problem-solving skills. - Can work autonomously and as an effective team member, with strong communication skills. - Have the strength of character to challenge poor team behaviours and non-adherence to standards. - Act as an ambassador for Manufacturing Excellence and continuous improvement. - Respond positively and flexibly to change. - Are knowledgeable about risk standards (Quality, Health & Safety, and Environment), as well as safety and hygiene compliance procedures. - Have working knowledge of SAP, Harford systems or similar.
