Senior Lead Pharmacist - Governance and Medication Safety

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be the lead for the provision and assurance of our governance and medication safety agenda in line with agreed objectives. You will manage and reduce medicines related risks and ensure that the Trust Medicines Policy and medicines legislation is complied with. You will be supported by and line manage the Medicines Safety Pharmacy Technician.

Person Specification
Education, Qualification & Training
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Post-graduate diploma/MSc in clinically-based pharmacy or recognised equivalent
* Pharmacy degree (BPharm, BSc or MPharm)
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
* Able to prioritise and manage own workload
* Work, communicate and provide effective leadership within a team
* Clear and concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers and to ensure records are kept accurately and in a legible manner.
* To have a positive attitude, be able to recognise and communicate need for change and be able to participate in change management processes.
* Able to recognise limits of own competencies and to refer and seek advice from colleagues.
* Able to recognise and embrace new ideas and developments in clinical practice and implement under supervision of superiors.
* Prepared to attend any training sessions necessary for personal and service development.
Experience
* Considerable hospital pharmacy experience at Post Registration Pharmacist level
* Delivery of pharmacy services to a range of specialities
* Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development
* Experience of project management
* Experience of training of other pharmacy staff
* Experience in pre-registration training
Special Circumstances
* Able to travel to other sites within the Trust and to venues for training.
