Hours: 37.5 Overview of the role You will play a key role in implementing Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) across the company’s homes, ensuring that our services users receive care and support that is psychologically informed and promotes least restrictive practices. As a member of the in-house clinical team, you will work under the supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. You will work closely with our staff teams to carry out assessments, develop interventions, and ensure the long-term implementation of PBS based approaches. Key duties Under supervision, you will: · Undertake behavioural assessments, including interviews with service users and staff, use of structured assessment tools, and analysis of behavioural data. · Develop person centred interventions, drawing on assessment and formulation of service user need. · Contribute to developing and reviewing risk assessment and management plans. · Support the long-term implementation, monitoring and evaluation of PBS across the service by regularly reviewing progress with service users and staff teams. · Work alongside staff teams, providing role modelling to support delivery of PBS based interventions. · Provide intensive hands-on support when required e.g. during times of crisis, to support new admissions, or to test new interventions and approaches. · Gather behavioural outcome data and report this on a regular basis both verbally and in written reports to ensure progress is monitored. · Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings such as Care and Treatment Plan reviews. · Support the delivery of staff training on an individual and group basis across different staff groups, including the development and review of training resources and materials. · Undertake some low-intensity interventions with service users where appropriate (e.g. psychoeducational work). Personal attributes Qualifications and knowledge · QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent. · BTEC Level 4 Certificate in Positive Behavioural support OR a clear commitment to undertake Level 4 on appointment. · Working knowledge of legal frameworks including Mental Capacity Act/DOLS and Safeguarding. · A Full UK Driving License and access to a car is essential as you will be visting servies and homes on a weekly basis. The company will contribute to mileage for work related travel. Experience Experience of: · Working directly with people with learning disabilities and/or complex mental health needs in either a health, educational or social care context. · Working with individuals who engage in behaviours that challenge. · Working within a PBS framework. Understands the key elements of Positive Behavioural Support, including its values base, core components and underpinning processes. · Implementing Active Support and least restrictive practice. Aptitude and abilities · Ability to empathise and relate to individual with communication difficulties and complex psychological needs who may express their needs through behaviours that challenge. · Evidence of IT skills and ability to contribute to high quality written reports, PowerPoint presentations, as well as inputting data to Excel and producing graphs etc on a regular basis. · Ability to show empathy and compassion for others, being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. Other requirements · Ability and willingness to work flexibly outside 9-5 hours, including evenings and weekends, guided by service needs. · The ability to travel between sites in a timely manner to undertake duties, which includes sites that are in semi-rural locations with limited public transport access. · Level of physical fitness to enable compliance with health and safety measures including PBM and manual handling training as required by the Company. · A Full UK Driving License and access to a car is essential as you will be visting servies and homes on a weekly basis.
