We have an opportunity for a Registered Nurse Mental Health / Learning Disability to join us as our new full-time (37.5 hours) Clinical Specialist Nurse within the Harrogate Community Mental Health Team (Mental Health Services for Older People) based in the picturesque market town of Knaresborough. The role will require travel across the area which includes Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Boroughbridge, Wetherby and surrounding areas as we work with people in their own homes and communities.
Applicants should be enthusiastic and driven, with excellent knowledge of mental health across the community system. You will have the support of the existing Clinical Leadership Team and work directly alongside two other Clinical Nurse Specialists in the team.

Main duties of the job
Working beside the Community Team Manager, existing Clinical Specialists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists, you will be expected to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment and provide clinical leadership within the team, utilizing skills to support multidisciplinary team members, including delivering caseload and clinical supervision.
The post requires you to hold a defined caseload of patients with complex needs, and it is advantageous if you hold a Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or are willing to work towards this in your first year. We work with patients utilizing evidenced-based pathways, recognizing the importance of non-pharmacological interventions, which you would promote and model.
You will be welcomed into a supportive, resilient and professional team who work collaboratively with internal and external partners to support the needs of those who are experiencing a deterioration in their mental health and their family carer needs.
Strong team working is essential, together with a knowledge and ideally experience of Quality Improvement work, significant experience of working with Older People with complex needs alongside holding a comprehensive knowledge of mental health care, the Mental Health Act and complex risk assessment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD
* Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
* Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving.
* Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years. Within the first year of being in post, hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification (e.g., Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber)).
* Have equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level, such as working as a band 6 (or above) in a relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD.
Experience
* Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.
* Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours.
* Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice.
* Working collaboratively with service users, their families, and carers.
