As part of our continued growth and commitment to safety, we are expanding our team and seeking a highly skilled Safety & Compliance Advisor to join us in Sydney. In this pivotal role, you will oversee aspects of safety within our operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety protocols, risk management, and legal compliance across our transport and logistics services.
OVERVIEW
The Safety and Compliance Advisor is responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices are met within the transport and logistics operations. The role involves overseeing workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and fostering a safety-first culture across all levels of the organisation. This position ensures the company operates within legal frameworks and consistently strives for excellence in health, safety, and compliance.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Safety Management:
o Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
o Manage incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
o Facilitate safety training and education programs for all staff, including emergency preparedness, hazard communication, and injury prevention.
o Ensure compliance with safety standards in line with relevant regulations.
* Regulatory Compliance:
o Keep updated records of all certifications, permits, licenses, and training required by law.
o Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections, audits, and investigations.
o Ensure compliance programs are robust and meet all legislative and customer requirements.
* Work within a continuous improvement and risk management framework, identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards, on an ongoing basis.
* Oversee corrective actions resulting from investigations and audits ensuring timely resolution.
* Stakeholder Engagement:
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, People & Culture, to integrate safety and compliance best practices.
o Build strong relationships with staff and supply chain partners to foster an open dialogue on safety and compliance consultation.
* Reporting & Analysis:
o Analyse incident data and generate reports to identify hazards, trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
o Maintain safety-related records, including compliance documentation, incident reports, and safety audits.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
* Education:
o Proven experience in safety & compliance with a minimum Certificate IV in WHS.
o Understanding of current WHS act and WHS regulations.
* Experience:
o Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety and compliance role, preferably within the transport and logistics industry.
o Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
o Knowledge of relevant transport and safety regulations, such as the Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and fatigue management.
o Demonstrated commitment to safety.
o The ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
o Enthusiastic and organised approach to work, with a can-do attitude.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to work in a team environment as well being able to work autonomously.
