Join the dedicated stroke team at Ashford & St Peter’s as a Specialist Stroke Doctor, providing high-quality, patient-centered care under the supervision and mentorship of experienced doctors, consultants, and a multidisciplinary team. This role involves delivering direct clinical care, assisting in clinical decision-making, and sharing equally in the department's workload to ensure comprehensive senior clinical cover.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assessment and management of patients, covering ward rounds, multi-disciplinary team meetings, and stroke and TIA clinics.
2. Aiding consultants in reviewing potential admissions, developing rapid assessment triage strategies, and ensuring timely investigations and patient disposition.
3. Participating in clinical audits, governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
4. Engaging in professional development, research, and continuing medical education.
5. Providing direct clinical care and sharing in the department’s workload, including taking the lead on Stroke Calls.
6. Supporting consultants in reviewing admissions and developing triage strategies, including the use of thrombolysis and CT Perfusion assessment pathways.
7. Collaborating with A&E consultants to enhance stroke patient management and achieving clinical quality targets.
8. Contributing to the education and professional development of the department's staff, including supervision of junior medical staff.
This position requires a strong general internal medicine knowledge and the role will provide the opportunity to spend one day a week on the general internal medicine rota in A&E, the clinical assessment unit or the short stay unit.
