A large Civil Engineering Contractor with a £134 million turnover is looking for a Principal Engineer to oversee the design team and assist the Design Manager with structural, temporary works, and geotechnical experience in Leeds. They're looking for an experienced individual to work on projects within the tunnelling industry as well as above-ground structures and large infrastructure projects. The most successful Principal Engineer will be a degree holder with CEng status and a minimum of 8 years' experience, capable of producing designs and checking others' work, as well as management. The Principal Engineer will have expertise in underground structures, tunnelling, temporary works, and complex infrastructure projects.

Principal Engineer Job Overview
* Provide technical support to the sectors of the business.
* Support tendering and develop construction methodology.
* Lead the projects through the preconstruction design phase, producing designs, and provide technical support through the construction phase, supporting the site teams.
* Lead and manage design teams in delivering high-quality engineering solutions for major projects.
* Liaise with external consultants.

Principal Engineer Job Requirements
* BEng or MEng level in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
* Chartered status CEng with the ICE or IStructE.
* 8+ years' experience with expertise in underground structures and large infrastructure projects.
* Experience in a design consultancy environment.
* Technical skills with accomplished structural design skills and geotechnical knowledge.
* Ability to support, mentor, and develop junior engineers within the team.
* Sound knowledge of CDM H&S regulations.
* Excellent written English language and grammar.
