About the division
The Water Consultancy Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to water and wastewater challenges, offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically challenging work. The work we do is at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for future generations and protecting our environment. Our multi-disciplinary teams provide a variety of services throughout the full project life cycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies, through outline and detailed design, to construction support and site supervision.
We are seeking Principal Civil Engineers specialised in pipelines to lead our technical teams across the UK. This is a fantastic professional opportunity for driven individuals, with strong UK water and wastewater infrastructure experience, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams of technical specialists in response to AMP8 challenges.
Overview of role
In this role, you will be responsible for:
* Providing technical leadership across our programmes of potable water and wastewater pipelines. Directing, developing and supervising a team of design staff, providing technical guidance to a variety of projects.
* Leading the technical delivery of wastewater and/or potable water pipeline programmes to budget, programme, and quality standards.
* Producing and reviewing engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports, proactively managing design risk to deliver constructable solutions.
* Working collaboratively across disciplines to ensure the efficient delivery of projects within your portfolio.
* Representing the company in meetings, building strong relationships with our clients and stakeholders to ensure the efficient delivery of projects.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Engineer with the following attributes:
Required skills and experience:
* Proven ability to lead a portfolio of technical projects, ensuring compliance with relevant quality assurance and technical standards.
* Demonstrable technical experience in clean / potable water pipeline design and pumping stations and/or wastewater network and associated infrastructure design.
* Strong communication skills with experience in effective collaboration across internal multi-disciplinary teams.
* A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions.
* Good understanding of designers’ responsibilities under CDM.
* Chartered Status (CEng) with a recognised Professional Institution.
* Able to travel to other offices and sites, as required.
* Track record of building technical capabilities of teams and junior staff.
* Experience in supporting bids and undertaking client engagement on technical matters.
