Medical Secretary
Band 4
Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 (A4C) Medical Secretary to join the Memory Assessment Practitioner Service, supporting the Older People and Frailty Division, working Monday to Friday during core hours of 9am to 5pm.
We are developing a team in response to a review of how we deliver our memory services, in order to broaden access and ensure delivery of specialist memory assessment in a timely manner. This is essential to enable timely diagnosis of dementia that supports access to early treatment and support, decision making, and aids optimal management and life outcomes for those in need. The post will entail supporting our Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical colleagues in the Division’s Memory service pathway.
The post holder will be expected to provide efficient and effective medical secretarial support to Consultants and Medical Staff and assist in the organization of the Consultant’s workload. The ability to demonstrate initiative and provide cross cover/support for other MAP secretaries is necessary to facilitate effective service function. The medical secretary faces a challenging range of tasks including acting as a personal assistant to Consultant Psychiatrists and will be required to support the coordination of team working. Having a positive, enthusiastic and “can do” attitude with a strong work ethic is important. You must have excellent communication skills, with a good level of competency in Microsoft Office 365 packages.
Main Duties of the Job
You will need to schedule and administer weekly MDTs and ensure letters are typed and sent promptly. You will also be required at times to liaise with GP's and carers over the phone or via digital means, using Microsoft Teams. This role will be predominantly carried out remotely; however, it would be beneficial for you to be able to attend one of our team bases within the county as required. Therefore, the ability to travel to one of these bases may be beneficial. We have bases in the following 8 areas: Boston, Grantham, Sleaford, Lincoln, Louth, Skegness, Spalding & Stamford.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to be at the forefront of providing a dedicated memory assessment service in a unique and flexible way. Please see job description for more details.
