Our D & T Technician and Teaching Assistant role is a unique opportunity to support our teachers, this involves assisting pupils in the classroom, preparing equipment for practical lessons, and ensuring materials are set up and cleared away efficiently, helping to create an engaging learning environment.
Wage
£13,741 a year
Please be aware that this salary is pro rata and so your actual salary for term time will be £11,798 split across the year.

Working hours: For example, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm. 8.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, term time plus 5 days. Due to this role being term time only, please bear in mind that your salary will be pro rata.

What you’ll do at work
We are seeking a proactive and reliable D&T Technician and Teaching Assistant Apprentice to support the smooth running of design and technology lessons. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team to assist with lesson preparation and delivery, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. The ideal candidate will:
* Assist in preparing materials, tools, and equipment for design and technology lessons.
* Prepare raw materials by cutting, shaping, or organizing them for classroom use.
* Ensure all tools, machines, and equipment are maintained in good working order.
* Support the organisation and storage of materials and resources.
* Ensure safety procedures are consistently followed in the classroom.
* Assist the teacher in delivering lessons by providing support to all learners, helping them understand their work and achieve learning objectives.
* Provide individual and small group support to learners, adapting strategies to meet diverse needs.
* Support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) vulnerabilities.
* Contribute to the smooth and safe delivery of practical lessons, ensuring students can engage fully in the learning process.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations in a classroom setting.
* A passion for supporting learners and promoting positive learning behaviours.

Your training plan
* You will be reuqired to attend the Shrewsbury Colleges, London Rd Campus one day in every 3 weeks for taugh input with the remainder of the working week in the workplace and assessor contact one to one.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
