THE ROLE
We are looking for an Assistant Merchandiser to join our planning team. Reporting into the Senior Merchandiser, you will be required to analyse sales, assist in planning and ensure critical path dates are achieved to provide the best range to our customers. You will assist in all areas to ensure department profit and turnover objectives are met.
As an Assistant Merchandiser, reporting, planning and the ability to communicate effectively is a crucial part of the role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning
1. Ensure good understanding of key planning documents and check that history is accurate.
2. Assist in the construction of the optimum range plan with supporting analysis, ensuring all documents are accurately completed within buying cycle timeframe.
3. Contribute to range building discussions using Lessons Learnt.
4. Ensure Buy Documents are accurate and kept up to date to support category stock plans.
5. Support Merchandiser with Building category WSSI in relation to sales phasing and required stock builds.
6. Ensure Sizing is regularly reviewed, and balance back orders placed for core lines.
7. Key focus on core offer, managing line cards and volume line planning.
Trading
1. Produce trading reports to summarise, analyse and identify key sales drivers.
2. Gain a good understanding of product performance and articulate in Best/Worst meetings.
3. Make weekly trading proposals to the Merchandiser in relation to sales reactions and stock management.
4. Competent in forecasting Category WSSI and line card projections for continuity product.
5. Manage intake in conjunction with the Buying department, ensuring critical dates are met for product launch.
6. End of season sale proposal – complete roll up in line with budget spend and timelines.
7. Liaise with E-comm team regarding Visual Merchandising of web and weekly marketing plans.
8. Liaise with Branch Merchandising to ensure stock is optimised across channels.
9. Identify and propose improved working practices.
10. Action integrity checks regularly to ensure smooth running of department.
