Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the GMMH Corporate Safeguarding Team as the Trust's Deputy Adult Safeguarding Lead.
The postholder will support the Adult Safeguarding Lead to lead on the adult safeguarding agenda and be responsible for ensuring that the Trust carries out its statutory duties in relation to safeguarding adults.
Main duties of the job
As the Deputy Adult Safeguarding Lead you will be responsible for ensuring the Trust carries out its statutory duties with respect to safeguarding adults.
To assist with the development and implementation of the Trust's safeguarding adult agenda, and ensure that Trust policies, procedures and governance systems meet statutory and national requirements in relation to safeguarding adults.
To support the Head of Safeguarding/Adult Safeguarding Lead to ensure that the Trust contributes to multi-agency safeguarding adult work alongside specialist safeguarding professionals from other organisations and bodies, including Adult social care and health, and in the planning and development of strategies for safeguarding.
To ensure that safeguarding concerns are monitored and dealt with in a timely and effective way across the organisation.

Essential requirements for the post include: Registered practitioner e.g. RMN, Social Work, significant experience of a leadership role in adult safeguarding, highly specialist knowledge and understanding of working with complex family situations, mental health and substance misuse in relation to safeguarding adults, legal literacy in relation to adult safeguarding and the ability to work effectively as part of a team and to recognise and support the needs of others in a sensitive and effective manner.

Education/Qualifications Essential
* Registered Nurse Registered Professional (Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Midwife etc.) Master's Degree or equivalent experience
Experience Essential
* Substantial experience in specialist area of practice dealing with Adults at risk at a senior level. Significant post registration experience. Extended clinical practice underpinned by teaching, supervision and assessment. Research and/or audit experience

* Teaching qualification
Knowledge Essential
* Experience of managing and leading on highly sensitive and complex safeguarding adult cases. Significant and thorough understanding of the 2014 Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Experience of delivering training to high standard in relation to complex adult safeguarding issues. Experience of evaluation of work/training programs. Significant experience of working with service users and carers. Experience of producing high level reports and briefings to senior management, along with recommendations to ensure positive practice is embedded across service areas. Knowledge of mental health, and substance misuse. Good understanding and awareness of Domestic Violence and Abuse (DVA). Experience of chairing complex safeguarding meetings.

* There is an occasional requirement to travel across the wide footprint of the Trust to attend meetings and events relevant to the role. Work occasional unsocial hours. Reliable method of transporting themselves across the Trust sites.
