Admiral Insurance is looking to expand its finance team and is seeking to recruit a Financial Accountant. This is a genuine opportunity within a FTSE Group to shape systems and processes in the Finance function.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Insurance Accounting Manager, the role will play a key part across both the UK and International insurance entities of the Group. It covers all aspects of Group reporting and financial control related to insurance accounting, including reviewing and challenging results, preparing insightful analysis and financial statement disclosures, and reviewing processes and controls for continual improvement.
Close collaboration will be built with the UK and International insurance accounting teams to develop a deep understanding of key processes, outputs, and controls, facilitating the opportunity to query and challenge.
The role requires a motivated and diligent candidate with strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills, with a focus on data quality and control. Candidates should be qualified in a recognized accounting qualification, ideally with insurance accounting experience in Financial Services Groups.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Preparation and review of key Group financial reporting outputs, including profit analysis and financial statement disclosures.
* Liaising with international insurance accounting teams to ensure consistency with UK operations and adherence to Group policies.
* Reviewing and challenging international insurance results and disclosures.
* Reviewing and challenging adherence to UK SOx compliance.
* Serving as a technical advisor on routine and ad hoc key accounting judgments.
* Preparing year-end statutory accounts and assisting with external audits.
* Providing additional support and completing ad hoc tasks as required.
Key Skills and Qualifications Required:
* Qualified in a recognized accounting qualification.
* Good knowledge of financial controls.
* Self-motivated, proactive, with a positive attitude towards work.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ideally trained in an external audit firm or with internal audit experience.
