Our Optometry department examine, detect and diagnose abnormalities and diseases- our clinics operate at Heartlands, Solihull, Good Hope and the QE account for 13% of UHB's annual activity. To support newly qualified or those without hospital experience we are thrilled open applications to a band 6 Optometrist vacancy- whose competencies once signed off can expect to progression to a Band 7 opportunity. To ensure this, you will work closely with the Head Optometrist, Doctors and Consultants, Orthoptists and other members of staff to assist in your development and progression. Main duties of the job As a key member of this ever-growing team, you will support our clinics in the performance of diagnostic refractions on patients of all ages with a wealth of eye conditions. This will see exposure to cycloplegic and subjective refractions on the young children, low vision assessments for patients who are struggling with poor vision and performing (often complex) contact lens fits and aftercares. This opportunity will see your skills and confidence increase within a hospital setting- where you can expect to be fully supported and offered access to higher education courses, training programmes. You will work closely with our amazing team of consultants who will be available to mentor you in your chosen areas of interest.
