MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
The Laboratory Support Officer role will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of various support activities associated with our R&D Laboratories and the wider Facility. The ideal candidate will exhibit a proactive attitude, take a hands-on approach to task completion, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Additionally, they will need to liaise with external service providers and suppliers, collaborating effectively across interdisciplinary teams in Evox's dynamic and flexible work environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Work closely within the Operations team to support the management of R&D lab based operations, ensuring smooth coordination and efficiency.
2. Monitor and manage laboratory supplies and consumables inventory, including ordering, receiving, and restocking to maintain adequate stock levels.
3. Perform routine tasks such as deep cleaning of laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, incubators, bead baths, and biological safety cabinets.
4. Conduct calibration of equipment such as balances, pipettes, pH meters, and conductivity meters to ensure accurate measurements.
5. Maintain the laboratory workspace clean, organized, and in compliance with cleanliness standards to uphold a safe and productive work environment.
6. Monitor, collect and deposit laboratory generated waste ready for off-site transport, including clinical and chemical waste, while adhering to proper disposal protocols as per environmental waste management regulations.
7. Perform decontamination procedures for biologically contaminated liquid waste disposal to mitigate potential hazards.
8. Prepare reagents, samples, and materials for experiments as directed by laboratory staff to support ongoing R&D activities.
9. Monitor operations for issues, incidents, and events, responding promptly to situations requiring immediate attention to minimize disruptions.
10. Coordinate with vendors to arrange deliveries and receipt of orders, ensuring timely procurement of supplies and equipment.
11. Follow in-house standard operating procedures and document service provider interactions for record-keeping and compliance purposes.
12. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance workplace skill sets, staying updated with industry best practices and advancements.
13. Provide administrative support to Operations departments, including handling correspondence, records management and Facilities support, to facilitate smooth operations.

14. Good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work within a team environment and build productive working relationships with the wider Operations teams and others.
15. Ability to prioritise and manage own workload to ensure the timely completion of tasks.
16. Experience gained within laboratory based operations and or a facilities support role.
17. Ability to work independently and accurately with close attention to detail.
18. Proactive problem solver, implementing process improvements with excellent organisational skills.
19. Ability to work within an agile and fast paced environment under own initiative and collaboratively.
20. Hands on flexible approach to task management in a diverse scientific and technology-based setting.
Experience & Knowledge
21. Possess previous experience in a laboratory setting and demonstrate a strong commitment to accuracy to ensure the extraction of reliable and valid results.
22. Previous experience working in an aseptic / contamination controlled R&D lab setting .
23. Experience in influencing, interacting, and negotiating with internal stakeholders, third-party service providers, and suppliers.
24. Proficiency in basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
25. Basic understanding of health and safety principles and practices.
