Actual salary: £ 16,630 based on a full time equivalent of £22,953 The Deaf Academy provides specialist education and care tailored to the individual needs of Deaf young people. The Academy is looking to recruit a positive and highly motivated individual to join its Estates and Facilities team as a Catering Assistant. Working under the direction of the Catering Supervisor, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic team player committed to providing a first class catering service to our students. The successful candidate will work in a modern kitchen environment, and our newly refurbished Post-19 Centre, both fitted out to meet the needs of our students. The Catering Assistant will need to able to work under pressure, in what can be a busy and demanding role, whilst having the ability to use their own initiative and think on their feet. Key responsibilities: Support/help the Catering Manager with the production of food for students and staff Prepare sandwiches and buffet related work in regards to events Organise, prepare, deliver and collect hospitality Pack/unpack and drive a small van on a daily basis including manual handling tasks Assist with food purchasing and orders Serve food within the servery area and dining hall Preparation and cleaning of the servery, kitchen and dining hall Key requirements: Effective team player who enjoys interacting with others. Ability to work in a safe manner. Previous experience within a kitchen/cafeteria environment. Full driving license with no more than six penalty points. Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people. Excellent communication and people skills. We will offer: A competitive salary.
