Operate radio communications when required and be conversant with the hospital network procedure.
To competently perform venepuncture / ECGs within the Health Centre and at ward level as directed by the requesting clinicians, within the Health Centres and at ward levels across all secure sites.
Recruitment & Retention premia has been introduced to attract and retain staff working within the Secure Care Division in High, Medium and Low Secure Services and further support our “Grow Our Own Strategy”. For our nursing assistants this will be a premia of £3025 pro rata.
As part of the Secure Care physical health team, you will provide patient care to our patients across the areas detailed as below.
Ashworth Hospital - High Secure -Ashworth Hospital is one of three high secure hospitals in the country. Ashworth provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment & care for patients with a mental illness & have been assessed as presenting a grave & immediate danger to others. Patients remain in the high secure service until they are safe & well enough to move to conditions of lower security or return to prison.
Rowan View- Medium Secure.-Rowan View provides specialist Learning Disability & Mental Health services over 8 wards. Opening in 2020 this state-of-the-art hospital provides care & treatment to men and women. Whilst relational security & the capacity to work in an individualized and therapeutic way are central to the treatment offer.
Rathbone Hospital (Liverpool) and Hollins Park (Warrington)- Low Secure-Our Low Secure Units provides mental health rehabilitation for men and women with mental health problems. The services monitor, manage, & reduce risk, whilst balancing therapy & security with the aim of helping prepare service users to lead a more independent life in the community.
Aspen Wood - Low Secure-Aspen Wood is a new 40 bed specialist learning disability unit which opened to service users in March 2024. The site provides care for those who need the lowest level of security appropriate for them.

To provide support to the health centre and administration staff.
Maintain up to date core skills, extended roles and learning needs as identified via PDP’s.
To be able to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Ensure that the Department achieves the Core Search Standards and liaise directly with the Security Department when necessary.
To undertake patient searches as per security procedures. To report any adverse circumstances to the nurse in charge. Including escorting patients from ward to clinical environments across all sites using radio communication equipment and maintaining accurate communication to ensure safety of patients and staff.
To undertake full control and restraint training, manage situations of actual and potential C&R issues using either approved C&R techniques or verbal de-escalation skills.
To Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communications skills to communicate factual information to patients and overcome barriers to understanding
To work collaboratively, sharing knowledge and experience with peers to provide support through teamwork, participate in regular team meetings.
Demonstrate appropriate skills to deal with patients with challenging behaviour, be able to adapt to the unpredictable demands of the patient and the needs of the service.
To be aware of patients well being, considering mental, physical, security and potential violent issues. Reporting any concerns to the nurse in charge.
Maintain up to date core skills, extended roles an learning as identified vis PDP's.
To maintain responsibility for the health and safety aspects of the environment for yourself, colleagues and victors.
To maintain quality control check's of all equipment within the health centre and across the secure sites.
Assist with the delivery of Health Promotion, assist with clinicians with a variety of clinics.
Work within the current policies and procedures throughout the hospital and Trust.
