Every day, young people face the challenge of homelessness. As our Support Worker, you'll help them through this difficult time. You'll provide stability and support as they learn to live independently.
This job is about creating opportunities. You'll work with young people aged 16-21 who need extra support and access our Pathways service in Bath. You'll help them build important skills like managing money and taking care of their mental health. Your guidance will support them during a critical time in their lives.
You'll be the key person who helps turn challenges into growth opportunities. Your approach will focus on each person's specific needs. You'll help them not just find housing but learn the skills they need to live on their own.
What you'll be doing
* Working at Pathways in Bath on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
* Supporting a small group of young people (about 7)
* Creating support plans that address each young person's individual needs
* Meeting one-to-one with young people in places where they feel comfortable—in the office, on a walk, or in the community
* Teaching young people skills like budgeting, mental health management, and preparing to move into permanent housing
* Working with other organisations in Bath to provide comprehensive support
* Maintaining professional boundaries while building trusting relationships

About you
We're looking for someone who is compassionate and communicates well to help young people with complex needs learn to live independently.
You must have:
* Understanding of the challenges facing homeless and vulnerable young people
* Experience working with young people in a supportive role
* Ability to build good relationships with people who are difficult to reach
* Experience managing cases and developing support plans
* Strong communication skills with diverse individuals and organisations
* Ability to maintain professional boundaries while being empathetic
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns
It would be helpful to have:
* Knowledge of housing and tenancy laws
* Experience working with other support agencies
* Familiarity with local education and job training options
* Experience working with young people who have complex needs
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
