Summary of Role Supporting the Production Manager, you will co-ordinate production and provide day to day management support to enable them to meet targets. Issuing work in accordance with the production plan and working with other departments to ensure all components are available to complete customer orders and proactively deal with production queries. You will develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, whilst fostering a culture of working safely and constantly striving for operational improvements across the whole factory. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Safety • Ensure employees adhere to the correct PPE practices and use equipment safely ensuring all staff are adequately trained in relation to all H and S including refresher training and areas such as manual handling • Ensure the team maintain housekeeping to a high standard and ensure tools and materials are kept tidy • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department • Carry out incident and accident investigations as required and associated follow up and encourage the reporting of near misses Service • Work to ensure people and materials are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet production plans while achieving quality and safety standards. • Proactively resolve production queries, making sure the operator at each stage has all the required materials and information required to complete the job to customer specification • Support the Production Manager in managing and improving efficiency through systematic, rigorous implementation of standards and processes that drive day to day improvements • Ensure the accuracy of time sheets and calculate individual efficiencies • Constantly review current processes on the factory floor to drive operational efficiency • Deal with queries from other departments in a professional and timely manner. • Liaise with other departments including Product Development, sales teams (via CSC) and supply chain departments to ensure smooth process of product development and despatch • Maintain records of WIP, calculate weekly WIP value and completed product on the master build list. • Coordinate production materials including kitting and issuing of materials, advise of minimum stock levels to trigger replenishment, working with the Supply Chain team to determine stock policies and replenishment to upholstery workstations. • Implement a structured system for replenishment of all materials at individual benches and ensure tool boards are consistently stocked with shared tools and stored correctly at the end of each day. Quality • Ensure employees are aware of the quality levels set by the business and that we meet those levels consistently through daily quality walk rounds with the Quality Supervisor. • Report and assess any non-conformance reports, working with the skilled operatives to identify and implement improvements • Constantly review current processes on the factory floor to drive quality improvements Staff Management • Support the Production Manager with all elements of staff management including RTW interviews, holiday authorisations, recruitment, grievance, and job chats • Responsible for the direct line management of the apprentices and labouring/finishing team • Manage the apprentices ensuring they are gaining the right blend of work appropriate to their stage of development • Take ownership of the induction process for factory department new employees • Directly manage workloads of staff through issuing of job cards and managing the process General • Deputise for the Production Manager as required in managerial meetings.
