Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Planner to join our Birmingham office. In this role, you will support project teams by creating, maintaining, and managing project schedules. Youll use your expertise to identify potential challenges, develop solutions, and provide strategic guidance to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This position is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits.
Key Responsibilities Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, including Design Deliverable Programmes, Procurement Programmes, and Commissioning and Completion Programmes. Conduct critical path analysis to ensure project timelines remain on track. Establish robust build sequences by reviewing tender/construction drawings, specifications, and bills. Programme Development and Coordination: Create integrated Project Programmes that measure progress across all project stages. Develop Information Required and Procurement Schedules derived from Project Programmes. Review and challenge subcontractor programmes, ensuring alignment and integration with overarching Project Programmes.
Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with on-site project delivery teams to meet personal, project, and business unit targets. Provide accurate, consistent, and reliable programme data to support project success. Deliver reports to the Project Delivery Team, including critical path networks and rescheduling recommendations. Risk Identification and Problem-Solving: Identify potential issues with project plans and propose solutions to mitigate impact. Challenge proposed changes to ensure project objectives are not compromised.
Accountabilities Supporting project teams with accurate planning systems and processes. Providing detailed planning insights and guidance to the Project Management team. Ensuring the timely delivery of project schedules to meet business objectives.
Required Skills and Experience Proven experience in a planning role within the construction industry, with expertise in delivering projects of various sizes and complexities. Strong knowledge of project planning systems and tools, including critical path analysis. Ability to review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to mitigating risks. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in relevant planning software.
