My client are looking for an experienced In-House Legal Counsel to join their UK team. My client are a large retail business and this is an exciting newly created role within the company. The candidate will have experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, with a specific focus on real estate lease agreements.
The role will be based onsite at their Sunderland office with some hybrid working flexibility available. Some travel to Italy may be required from time to time.
Duties & Responsibilities of the In-House Legal Counsel:
* Provide day by day legal support to all departments of the group located in UK.
* Draft, review and support negotiation of different kind of agreements, such as suppliers agreements, real estate lease agreements, T&C, HOTs.
* Assist with litigation strategy and manage outside counsels relationship.
* Provide comprehensive legal advice on various matters, including contracts, compliance, and regulatory issues.
* Negotiate terms and conditions of agreements to protect the organisation's interests.
* Draft, review, and revise legal documents, ensuring clarity and compliance with relevant laws.
* Stay updated on changes in legislation that may impact the organisation’s operations.
Qualifications & Experience of the In-House Legal Counsel:
* Exceptional academic qualification.
* Ideally 5-8 years of legal experience in a well-recognised law firm or in-house. Experience within retail environment would be a bonus.
* Experienced in dealing with real estate law issues, including drafting, revising and negotiating real estate Head of Terms, lease agreements, rent review agreements and lease re-gear agreements.
* Excellent communication, drafting and negotiation skills.
* Excellent legal analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
