The post holder will develop and deliver fire safety training in line with the training needs analysis for the Trust, this will include face to face, e-learning and desktop evacuation training to ensure compliance with all relevant Fire Safety legislation and guidance, in particular the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and related Department of Health, Health Technical Memorandums (Firecode).
The postholder will review all current fire risk assessments, undertake fire drills and assist the Fire Officer as required, providing administrative support when necessary.

Main duties of the job
Main duties:
1. To take the lead for all fire safety training provision for the Bradford District Care Trust including Induction.
2. To inform the Fire Officer of any risks as they occur and ensure they are kept updated of all actions.
3. To ensure the effective and appropriate translation of fire safety strategy and policy into practical application.
4. To translate Firecode and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to ensure that the Trust remains compliant.
5. To ensure that appropriate fire safety advice is given to staff, contractors and visitors to maintain a safe environment.
6. To liaise with maintenance on fire related matters when necessary.
7. To undertake reviews of all existing fire risk assessments on a designated frequency, completing all documentation on site.
8. Carry out regular fire safety ward inspections.
9. Ensure that site fire manuals are regularly updated.
10. To deliver a fire safety training program reflecting staff responsibilities for fire safety across the Trust.
11. To present fire safety training to all levels of staff and contractors, including external contracts for the purpose of income generation.
12. Carry out fire drills within all Trust buildings, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and compile a report on each drill carried out, including issue and management of actions arising from fire drills.
13. To arrange desktop exercises on fire evacuation for ward based staff.
14. To record and monitor staff training and present the figures to the Fire Officer.

Job responsibilities
1. To assist the completion of all interim fire risk assessments in accordance with Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 across all Trust premises.
2. To ensure that safety of patients from risk of fire is clearly reflected within fire risk assessments and fire training.
3. To assist the Fire Officer to compile annual reports for the Trust Health and Safety Group.
4. To assist in reducing unwanted fire signals within the organization as part of the overall fire safety strategy.
5. The Trust reserves the right to close this position early if a significant number of applications are received.
6. To assist in the development, dissemination, implementation and maintenance of the fire safety strategy across the Trust.
7. To produce and present all necessary reports and statistics to the Fire Officer for presentation at the Health and Safety Group.
8. To assist the Fire Officer on all fire safety related matters and produce and present reports when required.
9. Attend meetings in absence of the Fire Officer.
10. Attend and contribute to team and department meetings.
11. Input training data on to ESR system.
12. To assist in the review of the Fire Safety Policy.
13. To maintain an accurate record of all fire safety incidents, unwanted fire alarm activations.

Qualifications
* Nationally recognised fire safety qualification
* Level 3 adult training qualification on a regulated qualifications framework
* NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management
Training
* Commitment to continued professional development
* Training in the application of HTM05 Firecode in healthcare premises
* Fire safety train the trainer's course
Experience
* The ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of fire safety legislation and regulations appropriate to the built environment
* Minimum 2 years' experience of working in a training environment with evidence of preparing and delivering training
* Experience of using fire-fighting equipment in various environments
* Computer literate with good keyboard skills
* Knowledge of HTM 05. Up-to-date knowledge and awareness of key issues in fire precautions
* Knowledge of the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005
* Knowledge and understanding of health & safety and use of risk assessments
* Knowledge of evacuation procedures in a health care environment
* Knowledge of fire safety systems in a health care environment (ie fire doors, emergency lights)
* Awareness of the specific risks posed within a mental health inpatient environment
