• This role drives the overall fundamentals of the technical foundations, to provide robust compliance through highly defined quality management systems and services to deliver a high performance technical function.
• Covering the responsibilities of the Food safety, HACCP, Internal Audit and quality management systems to drive site improvement requirements, through key performance indicators, auditing and review metrics to drive a continuous improvement mindset supporting product, process and people tools underpinned by procedural management.
• This role supports the senior technical leaders, to drive the overall site delivery and technical teams to ensure quality, legal, food safety, compliance, brand integrity and culture is assessed and compliant. This role supports environmental, sustainability and health and safety management across the site.
• Provide a clear framework to measure, assess and review product and processes against, by creating detailed factory product specifications, quality attribute documentation and quality control points, to ensure a right first time approach is maintained.
• Generation and set up of the factory management systems, to ensure products; through from trial to launch are evaluated, risk assessed, within the boundaries of the existing HACCP control system, manufacturing SAP and SCADA systems are enabled ready for launch and risk assessments are updated. This includes allergenic, cleaning, adulterations, claims, nutritional, microbiological, chemical, shelf life and quality inspections points.
• Provide a network of communication tools, to support the business reviews, factory briefings, investigation tools and assessments to drive, reduce and evaluate any adverse KPI trends. Prepare, support and enable the business reviews via trend reports, action plan updates and BRC compliance assessments to support the technical strategy roll out plans.
• Support with group technical evaluation assessments, against customer codes of practice reviews, gap analysis, and continuous improvement enhancements.
• To manage, continuously improve, develop and standardise the sites along with the group technical strategies creating a best practice framework common to all Princes sites ways of working.
• Ensuring systems are operating in line with customer codes of practice, central policies, 3rd party standards such as BRC, RSPO, gluten free, soil association, red tractor and other NGO organisations and implementing industry best practices.
• Generation of active site plans to align with food safety quality culture reviews, continuous improvement plans and share across divisional sites for common ways of working.
• Create and align audit management frameworks to provide effective auditing tools to assess the sites effectiveness of Good manufacturing practices, hygiene performance, internal audits and sites HACCP management systems included Critical control points.
• Ensure effective audits are conducted against traceability schedules to challenge claims, at risk ingredients, mass balance and crisis management requirements with review outputs in place meeting all customer requirements
• Oversee the customer complaint management process for all site investigations linked to routine and urgent responses ensuring a continuous improvement mindset is in place working will all departments to reduce trends.
• Deputise for the Food Safety Manager.

Principal Responsibilities
-Work closely with the Food Safety Manager to ensure the technical foundations are in place, operating robustly and routinely assessed via various metrics to review for deviations, non-conformance, compliance and assessment against best practice
-Manage the Quality Management System to ensure the accuracy, procedures and process remain fit for purpose and customer compliant against codes of practice and group ways of working.
-Factory systems and specifications should be reflective of industry, factory and customer requirements, ensuring these are generated with clear instruction, guidance and accuracy of the HACCP Food Safety systems.
-Generations of the Internal audit management systems covering all aspects of auditing in line with group policy and customer requirements, to support a continuous improvement approach including, scheduling, robustness, auditor competency, review and trend focus points.
-Ensure audits are completed covering compliance, non-conformity assessment, full coverage of the scope, corrective action close out, escalation and review.
-Ensure factory management systems are in place and update in readiness for new product development covering product, process and any changes to scope scopes.
-Active member of the HACCP management team including, process confirmation of the studies, effectiveness of the HACCP system, compliance of the CCP’s, review following recalls, incidents, key trend failure and best practice assessment.
-Drive and oversee the complaint site management system to drive trends, escalation of serious complaints, active monitoring system and corrective action close out.
-Working with the Factory Technical Manager to ensure the factory quality monitoring points are clearly defined to evaluate products through the process for a right first time approach.
-Maintain all risk assessments, schedules and testing requirements to cover: microbiological, chemical, product, process, allergenic, claims, hygiene and adulteration testing regimes. Any overspecifications, a corrective action plan and trend review is in place.
-Generation of trend data reports in line with the business review cycles to ensure an active PDCA approach is in place for any adversities. Use a combination of different techniques to address all parties including the internal and external stake holders for updates. Active member of the business review sessions providing updated on technical improvement plans and customer requirements.
-Active technical member for any 3rd party site inspections and audits, including the preparation, and corrective action reviews for non-conforming close out. Work with all departments to ensure a robust root cause analysis is in place with follow up process confirmation is demonstrable.
-Support the site technical function to maintain all site accreditations including laboratory, customer and EHO audits
-Support and promote the site’s technical and food safety quality culture to drive continuous improvement projects through to completion. Track the effectiveness of the improvement projects and report to key stake holders on progress. Hold site departments to account for completion of actions.
-To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.
Role Requirements Skills:
Qualification in Food Related Subject to BSC or equivalent standard
Minimum of Level 3 Food Hygiene
Minimum of Level 3 HACCP
Intensive Knowledge of BRC & IFS standards
Intensive Proven Knowledge QMS and Retailer COP’s and systems
Proven Internal Auditing Experience
Proven Food Processing/ Manufacturing Knowledge
Proven continuous improvement
Highly computer literate
