With turnover in excess of £65m, 525 employees and a diverse customer base, our business is dynamic and vibrant and we are looking for a commercial and pragmatic leader to head up our compliance team.
This newly created leadership role will report to the directors and we are looking for someone to ensure group companies continue to operate safely, constantly achieving compliance standards whilst shaping the team for ongoing growth.
Health & Safety Ensuring all sites and operational processes meet health and safety requirements from a compliance perspective, including fire plans, accident investigations, reporting and inspections Review and improve health and safety plans, update risk assessments and SSOWs on a regular basis Ensure any RIDDOR related incidents are followed up and escalated where appropriate Create and facilitate communication of regular Health and Safety reminder briefings for all employees Ensure escalation of all major incidents and take ownership of getting to root causes, creating plans to avoid repeats Ensure risk assessments and inspection processes are in place to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment for employees and visitors.
Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and deal with the consequences Reporting and investigation of near misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence Drive for enhanced standards through continuous process improvement Compliance Lead internal audits in support of our external audits (e.g.
ISO, BRC, FORS, DTAS, TASSC and FORS standards) and lead the external audit process Ensure reporting on driver and vehicle conformance to regulatory requirements Drive for enhanced standards through continuous process improvement, targeted training and innovation – particularly though data usage Support the operational team with any HR or disciplinary issues relating to drivers Ensure robust management of any driver infringements (e.g.
driver hours, speed) including monitoring, reporting and ensuring corrective actions/training with drivers Develop, implement and monitor improved processes to ensure driver compliance to training requirements, ensuring operational and spend targets are met, This will include reviewing training delivery methods and costs).
Facilities Oversee the management of all facilities ensuring that they adhere to all regulatory requirements and provide a safe, secure and appropriate working environment.
Additionally, for the commercial property portfolio, ensure all regulatory requirements and invoicing needs are met (e.g.
meter readings).
About you: We are looking for someone NEBOSH or IOSH qualified with experience in the transport and warehousing sector .
We are ISO, BRC, DITAS and FORS certified and experience of those accreditations would be advantageous.
We are looking for an individual experienced in change management and team development.
Common sense and a pragmatic approach are must-have attributes.
You will bring excellent communication and influencing skills with a motivated attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
