Are you looking for a new role which will help to change and improve maternity health outcomes for women, birthing people and their babies? We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our existing Maternity Treating Tobacco Dependency Team at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, as a Maternity Adviser in North Devon. The individual appointed to this role will be able to motivate, inspire and support those for who Tobacco dependency impacts their health and wellbeing, and that of their unborn baby and wider family. This role will work within all areas of our maternity service, and will be supporting those who are pregnant and smoking to set a quit date and stop smoking. The person appointed will be able to identify tobacco users and will use a range of interventions to support someone to quit smoking.
Main duties of the job
As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients to stay healthy, when they need it most.
Job responsibilities
* Deliver treating tobacco dependency advice through assessments, individualised care plans and behavioural support.
* Identify and approach those who are pregnant who are eligible for treating tobacco dependency conversations and treatment.
* Develop individually tailored support plans including recommending treatments based on assessed needs.
* Provide general health, lifestyle advice and support to people using the service.
* Participate in educating pregnant women and birthing people about the benefits of stopping smoking in pregnancy and give support to those wanting to quit.
* Promote smoke free homes and support and advise about passive smoking.
* Deliver Carbon Monoxide (CO) monitoring to a high standard and engage in the data collection and collation of CO rates in pregnancy and post-partum.
* Maintain accurate up to date and comprehensive records at all times.
* Respond effectively to referrals within stated timescales self-referrals from the individuals, and those from colleagues and others from the maternity team.
* Will be involved in the monitoring and evaluation of client feedback, offering recommendations to improve service user experience.
Working Pattern: 22.5 hours a week
