Role overview
The firm is looking to recruit a Payroll Supervisor to join the London office.
Forming part of a department of seven, the successful candidate will be responsible for weekly and monthly payrolls for a variety of UHY Hacker Young clients and overseeing the work of a junior team member.
Duties will include:
* Processing payrolls from beginning to end in accordance with current legislation, policies and processes, and timelines, while ensuring that all payroll transactions are approved by an appropriately authorised person.
* Processing leavers, calculating holiday payments, PILON and other associated termination payments.
* Calculation of absence including sickness, leave and statutory payments.
* Processing other payments/deductions, including Auto-enrolment, court orders and contractual payments, ensuring that audit and statutory requirements are met.
* Inputting changes to employee personal details, e.g., bank account and address details.
* Inputting statutory changes, P45, P46, P6, and P9, student loan notices and court orders.
* Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring sensitive files are protected appropriately.
* Making ad-hoc payroll payments on occasion and supporting the team in responding to questions.
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and internal policies.
* Ensuring all payroll deadlines are met and quality levels are maintained.
* Ensuring all payrolls under your responsibility are processed and paid on time, and ensuring pensions, PAYE/NI, are paid on time.
* Ensuring information, policy & procedures and employee files are kept current and accurate.
* Supporting on a range of payroll projects.
* Assisting with monitoring the payroll inbox and dealing with queries in a timely manner.
* Performing any other tasks associated with payroll to complete payrolls within agreed deadlines.
Working arrangements
The working week: 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday) to be worked from 09:30-17:30 with flexibility of hours to meet specific work demands.
Location: Your principal work base is our London Office; however, we do accommodate working from home once past the 3-month probation period and have a flexi-time scheme in place which will allow some movement around these hours.

Person specifications – Desirable experience and skills
* Preferred experience working in a payroll bureau.
* Proven payroll knowledge.
* Knowledge of UK manual tax and national insurance calculations.
* A confident user of Excel and Word.
* Good communication skills, both verbally and written, and the ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
* Invested in promoting a customer care/service-based approach and operate with discretion.
* The ability to be proactive, flexible, and adaptable while problem-solving when required.
* Experience of working in a fast-paced, growing environment.
