Join our dynamic team at Woodlands Medical Practice, a progressive and patient-centered GP practice within the NHS. Our practice is located in Sutton-in-Ashfield and is part of the Ashfield North PCN. We are looking for a Senior Practice Nurse who shares our commitment to excellence in patient care.
As a Senior Practice Nurse, you will play a key role in our clinical team, delivering a wide range of nursing services to our patients. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing patient care, as well as providing support and guidance to our excellent established nursing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse who is passionate about primary care and is looking to make a difference in the lives of patients.
We are recruiting to this position for 25-30 hours per week over 4 or five days; salary will be agreed dependent on experience.
Main duties of the job
- Provide comprehensive nursing assessments and deliver high-quality care to patients across the lifespan both at the practice and by visiting patients in the community.
- Manage chronic disease clinics, including asthma, diabetes, hypertension, and other long-term conditions.
- Perform wound care, immunisations, health screenings, and other clinical procedures as required.
- Support the development and implementation of practice protocols and guidelines.
- Mentor and support junior nursing staff and students, fostering a culture of learning and development, as well as input in recruitment.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care for patients.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to service development.
There will be an expectation that the successful candidate will contribute to the team's extended access working hours. This may require working 7 am starts, 8 pm finishes, and occasional Saturdays on a rota basis to support the practice needs.

We are a well-established GP Practice situated in Sutton In Ashfield. Our practice consists of 5 GP partners and 2 salaried GPs. We are also an approved training practice and have a full complement of junior doctors.
The GPs are supported by a team of practice nurses, HCAs, a Phlebotomist, and a full administration team including practice manager and Assistant Practice Manager.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and training.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in a senior nursing role.
- Additional qualifications in areas such as cervical cytology screening, chronic disease management, spirometry, or travel health.
