Job Purpose
To develop and implement Operational Use (UU own use) and Water taken Unbilled strategies, driving demand reductions aligned with strategic and regulatory commitments.
The operational use and water taken unbilled delivery manager focuses on reducing water consumption in these areas through demand management strategies. This includes the ability to identify, measure and record operational use across all UU sites, operations, processes and office/facilities buildings and all other components of water taken unbilled.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Responsible for the creation, continual review and delivery of the demand reduction strategies for Operational Use (UU own use) and Water taken unbilled to support UU’s overall demand reduction strategy, achievement of regulatory targets and requirements and the maintenance of the supply-demand balance.
* Responsible for the accurate and timely measurement (where possible) of Operational Use (UU own use) and Water taken unbilled and for ensuring that the reporting is reliable, accurate and complete.
* Set and monitor performance metrics and expenditure targets in line with the strategy. Implement appropriate and timely reporting of performance and expenditure against to senior management.
* Responsible for building up a knowledge of and developing into the Subject Matter Expert for Operational Use (UU own use) and Water taken unbilled.
* Identify opportunities to drive improvements in Operational Use (UU own use) and Water taken unbilled, develop the business case for investment in the identified areas/projects and deliver and embed the improvement projects.
* Support investment programmes and projects to deliver demand reduction from Operational Use (UU own use) and Water taken unbilled ensuring that they align with company strategy and objectives.
* Project sponsor for related studies and projects performed by UU staff and external parties, including raising capital approvals and monitoring expenditure.
* Support the completion of the Water Balance workbook for regulatory reporting purposes, through the provision of or review of relevant and related inputs into the workbook as appropriate and agreed.
* Ensure industry best practice is deployed efficiently, effectively and in a timely manner.
* Sponsor related Research and Development and represent UU on relevant industry groups and forums.
* Reporting directly to the Water Demand Director and working collaboratively with:
* Work in collaboration with Developer Services to understand the opportunity/need for use of Unaccounted for Water (UFW) analysts and field technicians to recover unaccounted for water being utilised on construction sites and newly constructed industrial sites (e.g. non metered supplies such as Fire Suppression systems) across the UU region. Where opportunity/need is identified develop a business case to implement the required business change.
* Work in collaboration with Developer Services to drive focus on water efficient building development; acting as the technical lead for the need to build water efficient/water neutral housing and commercial developments to ensure that future building developments do not reduce the water supply in the area where they are being built taking learnings from case studies from other Water companies.
