Role Overview
With the support of a Government Apprenticeship Training Scheme, we will provide the skills to be proficient within our Production team, to learn the skills as an Operator or Inspector working within an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) environment, AOI, Xray, and NPI. The training scheme will provide a foundation to our products and customers, with the opportunity to progress to other areas within the Production team.
You will work towards the responsibility of a PCBA Builder, working within the PCBA process of hand assembly electronic, electro-mechanical circuit board assemblies. You will follow methods and sequence of operations in board building, hand soldering (predominantly TH/Conventional componentry), rework, and inspection on printed circuit boards, adhering to internal production processes and workflow plans while reporting to the process supervisor.
Responsibilities
1. Populating PCBAs with through-hole components within pre-flow process while adhering to production documentation.
2. Component kit prep and PCB cropping within the pre-flow process.
3. Setting up equipment needed to assemble the printed circuit assemblies, i.e., ladder racks and assembly frames.
4. Hand soldering through-hole components within the hand-assembly process.
5. Operating cropping and depaneling machines as well as PCBA cleaning machines.
6. Learning and performing basic troubleshooting protocols and rework for non-conforming units.
7. Ability to be flexible and handle priority changes as they occur.
8. Meeting expected daily production requirements.
9. Carrying out normal assembly tasks as required.
Qualifications
1. Must be adaptable, with the scope of working alone as well as part of a larger team with cooperation from supporting functions.
2. Studying towards an Engineering Operative Certificate.
3. Entry requirements: GCSEs at grades 9-3 (A*-D), ideally including English, Maths, and Science or equivalent.
