About the role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fleet Underwriter in our Bristol Regional Service Centre. As a Fleet Underwriter, you will be responsible for building and maintaining productive and effective relationships with our network of NFU Mutual agents, delivering first class technical support and assistance on new business, existing business, renewals and mid-term adjustments. The main purpose of this role is to review and evaluate insurance risks and propose and negotiate policy terms in accordance with NFU Mutual Underwriting principles, standards and criteria, within limits of authority to ensure good outcomes and first class customer service, aligned with risk appetite and financial objectives. In addition to the above you'll also have the following responsibilities: Analyse and evaluate risk and propose and negotiate policy terms, including appropriate limitations and endorsements, in accordance with Underwriting standards and principles and within limits of authority, to ensure a good outcome for members aligned with risk appetite and profitability objectives. Review and check insurance quote submissions, referrals and amendments, liaising with Agents to establish material facts to ensure new business and policy changes meet NFUM Underwriting criteria. Process and refer policy cancellations, investigating and evaluating disclosures and non-disclosure of material facts in liaison with Agencies in accordance with levels of authority, policy terms, SLAs and regulatory requirements. Build and maintain relationships with Claims, Senior Technicians and Agents to ensure the effective delivery of objectives and first class customer service and identify, resolve and escalate complaints and breaches in accordance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Audit cases in line with audit procedure and regulatory requirements to identify training needs or other remedial actions. Coach, train and guide colleagues on more complex risks, technical and customer service areas to improve their knowledge and support effective decision making. Deliver technical support and assistance to Agents, accompanying them on client visits to improve understanding of and establish risks and enhance NFU Mutual’s reputation. Deputise for Team Leader and Senior Technician as required to ensure continuity of service. We encourage a healthy work/life balance and this opportunity will offer you a 35-hour working week, with shift patterns falling between 8am and 6pm Monday – Friday, and no weekends About you We are looking for a customer-orientated and motivated professional who has experience in Fleet Underwriting and holds either intermediate underwriting licence or is actively working towards this. You’ll be an effective communicator with exceptional time management, organisation and stakeholder management skills aswell as be able to demonstrate strong influencing skills with colleagues of all levels. Being a strong team player, you will be motivated to achieve high quality standards and output, even when challenged and working under pressure. You will be used to always putting the customer first and have a strong sense of customer focus.
